Witches in Bikinis 1

Stopped by Coney Island after lunch as I had an hour to kill and I thought I should get some shots seeing as how it’s now THE place to shoot for hipster photographers, much like Cortlandt Alley was back in the day. I only live a few stops away from the place, I figure I should see what the big deal is all about before they tear it all down. (OK, the real reason is the spumoni that this guy sells out of a cooler on Surf Ave)
I spent a good 15 minutes stalking the Wonder Wheel, only to get nothing, and figured I should head for the city, when I stumbled across a little concert on the boardwalk. More appropriate for Halloween, it was the Witches in Bikinis (OK, maybe it’s more appropriate for Coney Island after all), and I thinks to myself, now this is some good photo goodness. Spend 15 minutes trying to get closer and closer to the stage, enjoying the show along the way, when finally the crowd breaks and I get a few shots. I figure I’ll do a few performer, and then get some back shots to show crowd reaction and interaction. That’s, of course, when the set ends and everybody goes home. Doh!

damnit…where were all the bikini-clad, wig-wearin’ crooners this weekend?!
Thank you for these pictures, for posting them, and your comments.
There’s more pictures of us from that day and also other shows if you search for Witches In Bikinis on Flickr…
We will be in this year’s Halloween Parade, on a float.
